About the College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences:
Our mission is to provide exceptional undergraduate and related programs in agriculture, food and environmental sciences for Wisconsin, the region and world. There are nearly 1,400 students in CAFES, half of which do not come from a farming background. CAFES has one of the largest undergraduate dairy science programs in the nation. We have the only Agricultural Engineering Technology program in the state and our Fruit Breeding program is the only one in the Midwest developing new commercial strawberry cultivars.
Over 50% of the high school agricultural education teachers in Wisconsin are UWRF graduates. For 25 years students have been producing and selling cheese and ice cream under the Falcon Foods brand.
In support of the campus sustainability goals, students initiated Falcon Fuels and are converting the waste vegetable oil from campus food service into bio diesel for use in campus and farm vehicles.
